The original HCG Diet by Dr. Simeon, is a VLCD (very low calorie diet). The basics are;
Breakfast – Tea or coffee. No sugar. Saccaharin and Stevia are allowed.
Lunch – 100 grams of lean protein. One type of vegetable. Choices include radishes, lettuce, spinach, tomatoes, cucumbers, asparagus, cabbage, onions or chard. One piece of melba toast or a breadstick. An apple, orange, half a grapefruit or a small amount of strawberries.
Dinner – Same as lunch.
The first two days of the HCG Diet include eating what you want while taking the drops or injections. This is followed by 21-27 days of restricted eating while taking the HCG drops. And then another 3 days of restricted eating without the drops. Next comes the maintenance phase where no drops are used of around 1500 calories.
