Fast Weight Loss Tips

Drinks

One of our favorite fast weight loss tips is to chop up oranges, lemons, pineapples, apples, berries and other delicious fruit. Then add one or more of these fruits to a glass of ice water. Pile the fruit on. The fragrance and fresh taste are delightful and make drinks like soda a poor substitute.

Instead of alcoholic drinks, we add a splash of fresh grapefruit drink (in the fridge section at your grocers) to a glass of sparkling water. We love to garnish it with grapefruit or oranges.
Delish and refreshing! On occasion we will use a splash of grape, cranberry or orange juice but grapefruit is our favorite. One splash or about an oz is around 10 calories, so you can easily drink 10 delicious fruity drinks for only 100 calories.

Read on to learn how changing what you drink can be one of the most important fast weight loss tips ever.

One of the biggest sources of calories is not in food but in drinks; sodas, alcohol, smoothies, lattes etc.

Just one 12 oz coca cola per day contains about 100 calories. Drink 2 per day and you are consuming (in addition to the “faux” ingredients) about 1400 calories per week. That adds up over to time to many unwanted pounds.

It is the same with many other drinks. A small Burger King Strawberry Shake (11oz) packs a whopping 690 calories. A Café Latte about 200 calories, make that a specialty latte with flavored syrup and add on even more calories. Many smoothies can pack on 500 calories easily.

Alcohol is another hefty source of calories. Though a glass or two of 80 calorie red wine is a nice accompaniment to a meal, if you find yourself reaching for a third glass than you may want to consider not having it at all. Sugary drinks like pina coladas and daiquiris are also high in calories. Not only does alcohol add calories but it also frees your inhibitions so you may eat more than you normally would.

Research has shown that artificial sugars such as those found in diet sodas may also increase sugar cravings.

Best bets are to stick to water with lemon, ice tea (little or no sugar added), hot tea, coffee and the glass of wine or two. Consider treating yourself to gourmet coffee and tea with just a small amount of cream and sugar if desired. I personally made the switch to green ice tea which I love! I brew a fresh pitcher a few times a week. It takes the place of soda and is a refreshing change from water (though I love water also.) You can read more about it here; Green Tea Diet Plan.
